content carries text/media/tool-response values. toolCalls carries model requests for SDK-owned tool execution. channels carries provider-specific reasoning or side-channel text keyed by channel name. Host engines can set finishReason and usage on terminal responses; when omitted, the adapter preserves the historical inferred finish reason and zero usage.
